04 class shunter D2246 at Buckfastleigh 9-7-5Previous | Next05001 seen at Sandown on the Isle of Wight on 29-7-76. Built by Hunslet in Leeds, 69 locos were built mostly for the Eastern and Scottish regions of BR. However by the time the electrification of the Island rail system was started, the sole survivor of class 05, D2554, was moved over to help with the electrification project. This finished, the loco was never repatriated to the mainline and continued in use until relieved of its duties by 03179 & 03079.
