76008 trundles 'light engine' through Darnall on 26 May 1981. The loco could develop 1,858HP which puts it in about the same power band as a class 37 (1,750 BHP). However the continous power output was limited to 1,300 HP, similar to a class 27!!. Withdrawn in July 1981 when the closure of the Woodhead line rendered the class useless. Eventually towed to Booths in Rotherham and cut up in June 1983
